If you would like to lose some weight then not having a positive attitude can make losing weight extremely hard, if not impossible.

You’ll beat yourself up every time bad food tempts you, become obsessive about what you can and can’t eat and dread any change that takes you out of your comfort zone.

Past experiences affect current attitude.

Many people have negative experiences from trying to lose weight. It may be that the weight dropped off, only to return – and then some. It could be that you followed a calorie-controlled diet and felt hungry all the time. It could be that the foods you ate did not suit your body and you felt bloated or suffered extreme cravings and mood swings. Feelings of discouragement followed any setbacks or struggles.

How to change your attitude to weight loss.

What are the best ways to change your attitude so that you have the most success with weight loss and weight management? Learning to say Goodbye or No to some things may help change how you approach losing weight:

  1. Surround yourself with supportive people.
  2. Have fun, don’t take yourself too seriously.
  3. Learn to love drinking 8 glasses of water (or calorie-free hot and cold drinks) each day.
  4. Accumulate at least 30 minutes activity each day. Choose what you love to do.
  5. Listen to or read on subjects to boost your mood and mindset.
  6. Practice self-care daily, walk in the sunshine is a great start.
  7. Take action without expecting a result as it takes off the pressure.
  8. Any result, big or small, is moving you towards your future self.
  9. Be grateful to yourself and others.
  10. As Nike says “Just Do It”

Many of our members started with similar thoughts of not being sure they could succeed when they first started on their program. We’d love to share some of their thoughts on losing weight with an eating program supported by ongoing weekly coaching.

Anne says:

“I would certainly encourage anyone who was thinking about doing the program to just start. If you don’t decide today, you will still be disappointed and dissatisfied with yourself tomorrow OR a year from now.”

Corinne says:

“I like being my new size. I feel more like the person I used to be. I felt I changed into someone I didn’t really know as I journeyed through life’s experiences, and I wanted to return to the person I felt was really me. And I’m Back!”

Annabel says:

“My blood pressure has reduced markedly, and my doctor has reduced the medication. I have less joint pain from arthritis and feel I can do more things now. I have more energy and get compliments from family and friends. I have enjoyed shopping for some new clothes and feel I have really accomplished something.”

Jodie says:

“I am happy and am feeling confident in myself, the way I look and feel, my ability to exercise and enjoy life. Especially buying a new wardrobe. The weekly check-ins with my health coach certainly help with your confidence to know that you are achieving goals, along with guidance and assistance when needed. I am living a healthier happier lifestyle along with the rest of my family.”

Leanne says she’s amazed by the following benefits:

  • Has more energy and now exercise several times a week.
  • Brain fog has gone.
  • My cholesterol levels have reduced to a normal level.
  • Sugar cravings have gone.
  • BMI now in healthy range.
  • Down 2-3 dress sizes.
  • Self-esteem improved.

“Do not let other people sabotage your weight loss efforts. Be strong and say NO when they are offering you foods and drinks that aren’t on your program. Be honest with yourself.”

Liz says:

“My husband has told me that I am less stressed generally with a more positive attitude to everyday events and situations. I am also happier and content in myself. I am very proud of myself and love the person I am now: physically, mentally and emotionally.”

Debbie says:

“I’ve had some personal issues and the support I got to help me through was amazing. If your mind isn’t in the right space you can’t concentrate on a healthy lifestyle and making good choices. The coaching is important as you can bounce ideas off the coach and ask for help when needed.”

Alli says:

“I have much more energy and overall feel so much better. I now fit into old favourite clothes like my skinny jeans and tighter tops. For anyone looking at starting I would say just do it. It’s so simple to follow and the support and advice is fantastic. Take a leap of faith.”

Nat says:

“Small steps are just as important as big ones. The help and support at Healthie’s is invaluable. The dietary suggestions, the exercise and most importantly keeping the mind engaged in losing weight is second to none.”
