Lost 10.3kgs and 14.22% of her body weight

I put on weight during and after COVID. It was due to a combination of factors. I was working really hard and having a drink and some nibbles at the end of the day was like a little party to which I looked forward to. Slowly I added in some ice-cream for dessert and occasionally a delicious croissant. Between the treats and my growing enjoyment of Riesling I put on about 10 kilos. In the meantime I had bought lots of very comfy stretchy pants and loose tops.

In 2024 we were due to go to the UK for a niece’s wedding in June. I was dreading choosing something to wear. Initially I planned to join Healthies to lose some kilos before the wedding, but I knew it was a problem that I wanted to address for the long term. I was always tired, didn’t have much energy to play with our grandsons, often had a bad back and I didn’t really enjoy going out or getting dressed up. In April I realised I needed to do something and I popped into Healthy Inspirations on my way back from coffee.

I found that I really enjoyed the classes and that the weekly nutrition accountability weigh-ins were good for me too. I managed to lose several kilos before the wedding but I still felt frumpy and didn’t have much muscle. After a bad bout of COVID and pneumonia overseas, we came home. The good news was I had lost a little more weight whilst on holidays. The bad news was that I lacked energy.

My husband is a great cook and knows a lot about wine. We both love spending time with friends and family enjoying food and wine so I knew I needed a balance. By following the Healthy Inspirations eating plan I am a lot more conscious of what we are eating, the portion sizes and the ingredients. We started also making sure we were planning ahead with enough good vegetables and salads on hand to make easy lunches and just adding some protein to these.

I’m much healthier now having lost those pesky 10 kilos and no longer on my blood pressure tablets! I am enjoying regular exercise again and all my clothes fit. My next goals are to increase my strength and drink less wine (not no wine!) I am also much keener to get moving each day and really feel supported by my Health Coaches Elissa-Mae and Tiffany. I also really like the women I have met at Healthies, and friends tell me I walk faster and look better. Hooray!
