Lost 2.2 kilos and 3.1% of her body weight in the 12 Week Beat the Winter Blues challenge

I entered the 12 week challenge to give myself that extra incentive to get to my goal weight for three reasons – a wedding, a holiday and an impending back surgery.

I wanted something else to help me stay accountable and give me more drive. The emails and advice throughout the challenge helped me to stay on track.

I have more energy and my back hasn’t been quite as sore. My family has noticed that my skin is clearer and brighter. I feel lighter and no more sluggishness. I am now ready for my back surgery and feel like I can conquer the next 6 weeks having lost the additional weight.

Having one of the coaches look at your diary and go over your week has been great when hit with some obstacles and how to get around them. It has made prep for those days when I know I am going to be out and how to manage food intake in social settings.

My Top 3 Tips

  1. Water is your friend. If you don’t like herbal teas, soda and mineral water are great no-calorie drinks that will keep up the fluid intake.
  2. Make any excuse to move, especially from the work desk. Do a lap around the office, go for a lunch time walk or park the car 10 mins away just to get those extra steps in.
  3. Be kind to yourself. We all slip up occasionally, it’s not the end of the world. Tell yourself or leave a note on the fridge or pantry door to be mindful and kind to your body and mind.
