Lost 13.4kgs and 17.89% or her body weight

Perimenopause and menopause have a lot to answer for, and I was steadily putting on weight that I just couldn’t shift. Whenever I saw a photo of me, all I could see was I needed to lose weight. I wanted to feel better about myself and be a better role model for my family.

I’d never had to “manage” my weight before, so this was a bit of a shock and stressful. It was affecting my “glass half full” view of life and my self-esteem. I realised I needed to look at things differently – for solutions to succeed rather than reasons I wouldn’t. Difficulties then disappeared. I got a SodaStream to make drinking enough water easy. I now know I’ll put on weight when tired and stressed so I try hard to work on that and be kinder to myself when I can’t. And when I travel for work, I am more vigilant about bringing some healthy snacks along like the Healthies protein bars to be less tempted by quick carb fixes.

As I began to lose weight, I became more motivated to keep going. I made the most of that cycle so things like being busy or putting others first, weren’t at the expense of reaching my goals. A big shout out goes to the Healthies’ coaches who stoke that motivation, thank you!

I’ve noticed after being back in control of my weight that there have been everyday changes like having a stronger body, more energy, fitting into ‘old’ clothes, and feeling more confident. The big change is I feel happier and healthier. Also, I rediscovered exercise to relax – it’s become “me time” where I can switch off and just be in the moment, even when I’m huffing and puffing.

My Top 3 Healthy Inspirations tips:

  1. As Ted Lasso said – Believe.
  2. Keep the fun (in moderation). If you take the fun out, everything’s harder. So, I don’t sweat the odd piece of cake, champers or lazy day. Enjoy the moment, then get back to it.
  3. Look forward. I am grateful for the opportunity to be healthier and want to make the most of it.
