Getting the job at Healthy Inspirations was somewhat of a dream come true for me. I knew I wanted to work with women and help them get their health back on track. When I started working at HI Blackwood, I was required to go on the nutrition plan so I could experience firsthand what our members went through when joining up.
I had food addiction for 10 years and I did a lot of mental and emotional work to overcome that, but I didn’t really have a clue about nutrition. I’ve dabbled in exercise and yoga over the years, but coming here for the specialist program and work-out equipment, as well as the classes – has just blown my mind in regards to the weight I’ve lost, the way that I feel and how my clothes are fitting.
I actually didn’t realise how heavy I was. When I looked in the mirror I still thought I looked okay but to lose 9.8 kilos in 8 weeks, “Wow, I must have been a lot bigger than I thought I was”, which means I was unhealthier than I thought I was. I think I was in denial, so I’ve had a bit of a wake-up call.
Despite the work I had done to overcome food addiction, I still had to fight with cravings everyday. Since going on the nutrition plan at Healthy Inspirations I haven’t had any cravings at all, and to me, that is astounding! Having the protein snacks twice a day, plus the 3 meals with the protein, the healthy fat and the low and moderate carb, has curbed my cravings which is just honestly, a miracle.
I’m feeling amazing. I really feel that I can do anything and not only in relation to food and eating and my health, but in my life. I know that I’ve hit goals since starting work here and I can transfer that into my own personal life, achieving my own personal goals as well.
