Meet Melissa D

Lost 19 kilos and 58 cm.

In 2009 I reached my heaviest weight I felt so unhappy and lacked a lot of confidence. In 2010 I lost 35 kilos and I felt amazing. After I got married in 2012, I started to gain weight again and put on 17 kilos. In 2015, I started to have the same feelings I felt back in 2009, so this was the moment I needed to make changes and that was when I joined Healthy Inspirations.

I had driven past Healthy Inspirations so many times, and one Friday afternoon I thought to myself, why not just go in there and join! So the following Monday I had an appointment which started my journey.

Within a few months I lost 13 kilos, and within that time I became pregnant with my first child. I continued to work out in the centre and was supported by all the staff and members to look after myself while exercising.

In February 2016 James was born, and I was enjoying my new life as a mum. I then started thinking I would love to start back at Healthies again but I just didn’t know how I was going to do this with a newborn. A phone call from Nola helped me achieve this.

A year and a half later I have now lost 20 kilos, and I am the happiest and healthiest I have ever been. My BMI is now in a healthy range, I am sleeping better, I have a lot more energy to look after my son and I am a positive role model for him on eating healthy and being active.

I think what I have learned and accepted this time around is that my body is different and this the body I will have for the rest of my life. It was the body that carried my beautiful child, and I want to make sure that it stays fit and healthy so I can enjoy watching him grow.

I could not have achieved this without all the support from the ladies at Healthy Inspirations at Prospect. Having the weekly support kept me accountable. The ladies are very encouraging and supportive and I didn’t want to let them down so it made me stick to my plan.

Would I recommend Healthy Inspirations? Definitely. You will get results no matter what your goals are. The support you will receive is catered to your individual needs and when you see the results you will love the healthier you!

Tips

  1. Filling in the journal is very important and be truthful to it.

  2. The plan DOES work!!!

  3. Accepting that there will be challenges along the way but make sure it is not used as an excuse to overindulge.
