Lost 19.9kgs and 20.1% body weight

Before coming to Healthy Inspirations, I had spent many, many years feeling miserable and my confidence was on the floor. I didn’t want to socialise with friends and family, and I didn’t feel good in any or my clothes as they were oversized and unflattering. I was constantly tired, lacking energy and the less that I was doing the less I wanted to do.

I was inspired by my friend Cathy who had great success with losing and keeping her weight off with Healthy Inspirations. Seeing how much weight she had lost, and how good she looked was such an inspiration for me, and it prompted me to join. I remember thinking, if she can do it, then why can’t I?

The start of the program was a big change for me, as we initially reduced my carbohydrate and sugar intake. But I found because I was achieving the results early on, it gave me the motivation to stick with it. The support with the weekly 1 on 1 nutrition coaching was critical to my success, and helped keep me on track. If I had setbacks then we could work through these quickly, and you are more likely to stick to the nutrition plan when you have that accountability each week.

Now, 19.9kg lighter, I feel healthier, fitter and far more confident. I’m much happier and no longer embarrassed about my appearance. After so many years focusing on rolls and bulges, I know it will take some time to adjust to wearing clothes that are more fitted. I almost can’t believe that I’m now down 3-4 dress sizes (depending on the brand), and I am starting to see in the mirror how much better I look. Shopping has been so much more fun now because there is a bigger range of clothes available to me, and I can buy what I like (not just what fits).

One of the biggest changes is how much more active I am. Coming to workouts each week in the centre has helped increase my energy now, especially to play with my grandchildren, which I love.

My advice to other members or people thinking of getting start is that it is simple: don’t give up, keep your protein up and the weight will come off. And don’t waste energy dwelling on a bad week. I did that regularly, but now that I’m where I want to be, I realise all that worrying was a waste of time. Keep going. You’ll get there!
