Lost 13.8kgs and 16% of her body weight

I have always been overweight and self-conscious about my weight, even as a child. We grew up on an isolated farm and were completely self-sufficient with homemade everything including bread and sweets. From here I developed a love of sweet foods early on in life and found I would eat a whole block of chocolate rather than a just a piece.

As an adult I thought what I was eating was OK but it wasn’t as my serving sizes were huge and I was borderline diabetic for many years. At 70 years of age I knew I was overweight and had started feeling quite depressed about it. A friend of mine lost a lot of weight at another Healthies centre so I decided to do it and make a change for me.

I found the program easy to follow, especially with the help and support of the Healthies coaches which is amazing. I absolutely love the recipes and enjoy cooking in big batches so I don’t need to think about preparing different meals each day. I really need accountability and love my weekly nutrition check-ins with the coaches as it inspires me to keep working on my goals. At home you can weigh yourself, but there is no feedback as to how or why it has gone up or down, whereas in the centre there is the support, expertise and reassurance to keep working on your goals. Also the atmosphere is just fabulous!

Travelling is a big part of my lifestyle and I have managed to stick to my goals easily when I do. Overseas I have brought my Healthies snacks (like the protein shakes and bars) and select spirits over cocktails. When we go caravaning I pre-prepare as many meals as I can and we enjoy meat on the BBQ and salads. I also am a fan of low-calorie wine as an alternative with lots of ice to water it down.

For exercise I enjoy the Healthies circuit and am part of a Dragonboat club, of which there are now 5 of us from there attending Heathies! This also provides us with additional support and encouragement.

Each month I have participated in the Body Scans at Healthies and my metabolic age is now 15 years younger! I have kept up these scans monthly, which give me an idea of how healthy my body is from the inside-out. The scans are enlightening, along with the added health benefit that I am not longer pre-diabetic either.

Since losing the weight I am so much more confident and really like dressing up and wearing clothes (like dresses) that I have not worn in years! I now like making an effort because I feel so good in my clothes.

  3. Don’t buy food items (like biscuits or chocolates) that aren’t on the program as they will tempt you in a weak moment
