Lost 10.1 kgs and kept it off for 17 years!
I have been a Healthies member since 2009. I have always been very active, playing netball, running, and I like riding, but I had fallen into the trap of working long hours, not eating properly, snacking, and as a single mum of three, having no time for myself.
One day, a flyer arrived in my letterbox for Healthy Inspirations. After reading it, I knew it was for me — it was a way to get back on track.
Now it’s just a way of life.
I am aware of each meal — size, protein and carbs — all well balanced. With the combination of this and exercise, I also wanted to lose weight, which I did, and now know how to keep it off.
Being a Healthies member is so important. I have a lot to thank them for, as they have created an environment where it has been easy to create friendships, togetherness, bonding and there is always someone to chat to — even a coffee club. I don’t live near the centre, and there are a number of other places I could easily go closer to home but none of them have what Healthies has created for me.
Like most things in life, you have to listen, commit to, and follow advice on diet and exercise. I am still very routine with my meals, especially maintaining portion control as set out by the Healthies plan and my one-on-one coaching sessions. This carries on whether I am eating at home, at a restaurant or on holidays. I make the best choices that I can, and even take some of my protein snacks away on holidays to continue to stay on track.
I have improved my mental health, energy, and confidence, and I now know how to cope with stress. I look forward to attending the exercise classes as they make me feel part of a team when I see all the other members and Healthies coaches.
Over the years I have seen improvement in all areas of my body – strength, muscle and my family and friends all say they want to be like me. They say I am ‘lucky’ but it’s not luck it’s consistency coming to Healthies for my workouts and keeping up my healthy eating habits.
